Description
Sustamina's Hatchery Project is located in Barangay Munting Ilog, Silang, Cavite, about 9 kilometers away from the main office.
Its operation started on December 2002 using 4 Petersime incubator machines. To complement the expansion of the broiler breeding operation, additional machines were installed last October 2007 to increase the average weekly output of day-old chicks.
To ensure the quality of the baby-chicks, strict bio-security procedures are kept in place in every segment of the operation. Giving emphasis on improved hatchery ventilation that plays important role for the normal growth of the developing embryo, and to avoid unnecessary stress to the newly hatch chicks, air-handling unit (AHU) was installed in the system. Waste water treatment facility was also constructed along with the material recovery facility (MRF) in accordance with the DENR standards to minimize its impact to the environment.
